ABB starts up 50MW Philippines BESS

June 15, 2023: ABB began the 50MW BESS it equipped to Common Energy Options to strengthen the reliability and stability of the grid in the principle island of Luzon within the Philippines.

ABB mentioned on June 7 that its NMC LFP system is the primary eStorage Max, pre-engineered, modular, giant BESS to be delivered within the Asia-Pacific area.

The monetary particulars of the Limay mission weren’t disclosed.

ABB mentioned Limay is a part of a broader contract with Common, a part of San Miguel Company International Energy Holdings, for a complete of 240MW BESS capability to help the grid within the islands of Luzon and Visayas.

ABB mentioned the Philippines goals to realize 35% renewable power technology by 2030 and 50% by 2040.

Calogero Saeli, International product group supervisor of ABB, mentioned that the mission will be certain that the grid is extra steady and in a position to deal with the reliability challenges related to the transition to a stronger mixture of renewables.
