Yuasa BESS goes live for Japan wind power project

July 6, 2023: GS Yuasa introduced the beginning of operations on June 15 of the 240MW/720 MWh BESS to assist Japan’s wind energy facility.

Yuasa mentioned the lithium-ion BESS delivered to the North Hokkaido Wind Vitality Transmission Company started operation in March, after a 16-month set up interval that resulted in November 2021.

The system, which has about 210,000 modules and three.3 million cells, will probably be maintained by Yuasa for 20 years.

Yuasa manufactures the batteries, which use the corporate’s proprietary Starelink battery upkeep service and related distant monitoring know-how to continuously monitor the voltage of all cells.

BESS will assist offset fluctuations in output brought on by climate modifications and assist stabilize the grid, the corporate mentioned.

In March, Yuasa mentioned it might elevate the costs of lead and lithium-ion batteries and different merchandise bought in Japan by not less than 10% from April 1 because of rising uncooked materials prices.

Yuasa mentioned that the price of supplies together with iron, metal, plastic and non-ferrous metals resembling copper has continued to extend considerably over the previous two years.
